Restrain
1995 Central St Martins/Antonia Havani, Greece
Both Restrain, and its partner Muzzle, were made in response to a title of one of Dorothea Tanning's paintings 'Women fleeing fear itself'. At the time I felt wrung out, dry, with nothing to say so I took on the learning of a new skill (bookbinding), a time consuming, concentrated and focused process. This allowed me a space to develop new ideas and the making of a simple book became the making of many. Twenty six objects setting up a dialogue about the difficulties of language.
